The “Cerros de Mavicure” are the main attraction of the department of Guainía, in the Colombian Amazon, they are a set of 3 monoliths located 50 Kms south of the city of Inírida. The three hills are called: Pajarito, Mono and Mavicure (712, 480 and 170 meters respectively) and are located in an area that is sacred to several indigenous communities and contains a unique natural wealth in which is also the fluvial star of the South, meeting point of the Guaviare, Inirida and Atapabo rivers where the Orinoco River is formed During this tour you also will experience a pristine destination denominated “the land of many waters” thanks to all its rivers with different colours and indigenous territories with preserved ecosystems.
Options of doing special treks and activities.
(05:30) – Welcoming in “Mitu” Airport (Vaupés province). Then we will take a private plane towards “Buenos Aires”. where we will be received with lunch and welcoming in the indigenous territory by the local chiefs. In the afternoon we will take an upstream river boat towards the indigenous community of Morroco where we will set our hammocks in a “Maloca” at that community and will have dinner with the locals.
(07:00) – Breakfast at indigenous community, then we will cross the Cananari river in boats and from there we will start a trek towards Morroco hill where we will set a jungle campsite in some caves located at one sector in the middle of the ascent of this enigmatic “Tepuy” (which belongs to some of the oldest rock formations on earth). The campsite is aimed to be also close to a waterfall of the mountain and in the afternoon we will visit the spectacular “Ventana al Mundo” in order to appreciate the sunset there.
(07:00) – Breakfast at the campsite and then total ascension of the top of Morroco Tepuy (450 meters) where we will also see some old mysterious rockart of the Tepuy. Afterwards we will continue the trek towards Morroco indigenous community and if we arrive early we will have lunch there or on the way there. Then we will have a boat trip downstream towards Buenos Aires community and will have dinner & spend the night there in hammocks at a Maloka.
(07:00) – Breakfast at the indigenous community and farewell with the authorities of the “Buenos Aires” Community where we will start a boat ride towards the wonderfull Apaporis river and visit the majestic places on it. After this place we will get back to Buenos Aires & wait for our flight back to Mitú in private planes. Once in Mitú our services end and you can do a connection flight to Bogotá or do extra activities in the region which we can coordinate.
