This National Park is a mountain formation located on the north of the eastern mountain range of Colombia, on the department of Boyaca. The highest peaks of this National Park are covered with snow and this place has the largest snow mass of Colombia. The lowest limit of the snow is 4.800 m.a.s.l. in a place that also has several lakes & waterfalls. This ecosystem has more than 22 snowy peaks having with the highest point getting till 5.330 m.a.s.l.
➡ Transportation in buses from Bogotá to El Cocuy as there is no flight option or airport nearby.
➡ Accommodation the night before or the night after to the expedition in El Cocuy area.
➡ Optional private trails and special activities at the area.
(07:00) – Meeting at “Guican” town, after that breakfast in typical restaurant and registration & talk with El Cocuy national park authorities, then you will take a guided tour in the town with historical and indigenous thematic. Later on you will have lunch in the town and then you will be taken in 4×4 cars to the cabin where you will do the check-in. Subsequently you will do an acclimatization hike of 4 Kms in the sorrounding area and at night you will have dinner and rest in the comfortable cabin with Wi-Fi and hot showers.
(04:30) – Breakfast in the cabin and then transportation in 4×4 vehicles to the middle entrance of the National Park (3900 m.a.s.l.), where you will begin the hike of the day towars “Laguna Grande de la Sierra Area” attempting to get to the snow border-line at 4900 m.a.s.l. having an outdoors lunch on the way and then starting the hike back to the national park entrance completing a trek of approximately 20 Kms of lenght. Then you will be transported back to the cabin in 4×4 vehicles and will have dinner and rest there.
(04:30) – Breakfast in the cabin and then transportation in 4×4 vehicles to the northern entrance of the National Park (3900 m.a.s.l.), where you will begin the hike of the day towars “Ritak´uwa Blanco Area” attempting to get to the snow border-line at 4900 m.a.s.l. passing by the “rio playitas valley”, having an outdoors lunch on the way and then starting the hike back to the national park entrance completing a trek of approximately 13 Kms of lenght. Then you will be transported back in 4×4 to the cabin where you will have dinner and time to rest again in the cabin.
(07:30) – Breakfast in the cabin and then transportation in 4×4 vehicles to the hot springs of Guican where you will be able to recover in the natural hot springs of the area and have a relaxation day where you will also have the chance to experience more about the local life at the area an will enjoy some traditional food and see some community processes that takes place in the villages, in the afternoon you will be taken back to the cabin in order to have dinner, rest and prepare for the last day of expedition.br>
