Tour Details

La Guajira is a region located in the northernmost spot of Colombia, having the largest desertical área of the country. Additionally is the area with the largest indigenous population of the country, specially for the Wayúus communities. During this quick 2 days immersion you will get to one really quiet and unique beach with its orange sand and strong wind that makes it one of the best spots for KiteSurfing in Southamerica), having a glimpse of the indigenous Wayuu culture & territory guided by our indigenous local guides.

Recommendations

  • During the trip several hikes will take place that require certain physical effort, in that order it is necessary to have an appropriated basic physical condition.
  • Take cautions against sunburn and some mosquitos, during the tour you will be exposed to high temperatures and some mosquito fonts.
  • The destinations to be explored have a basic infraestructure to be visited, anyways there are all the facilities to spend pleasant nights and good rest.
  • For middle-age people or people sensitive to sleep, we suggest to take the option of beds (which include private toilet and shower).
  • We promote an actuve tourism, we will organize different activities and integrations in order to get the most out of it.

Itinerary

Day 1

 (07:30) – Pick up in Riohacha in 4×4 vehicles, then we will head up north to the Desert, doing a short stop in Uribia to get supplies, then we will head to Manaure salt mines and see the salt process in that region of Colombia. After that we will go to a “Ranchería Wayuu” (location of indígenous communities of the area) where we will have special activities with them. after that we will have lunch and depart to Cabo de la Vela in the late afternoon enjoying the sunset in the desert and dropping of from the car at our eco-hotel where you will have dinner and accommodation in “Chinchorros” (special local traditional hammock) or you will have the option of sleeping in beds for 40.000 pesos extra if you reserved it in advance.

Day 2

 (07:00) – Breakfast and departure in our 4×4 vehicles towards the main attractions of “Cabo de la Vela”, doing a tour around the area visiting “Arcoiris” beach, “Pilón de Azúcar” cliff and “Ojo de Agua” and the main natural attractions in this amazing place, having also optional time for doing kite-surfing. After that we will head to our hotel and will have lunch and then do the check-out. Then we will head in our 4×4 private cars towards Riohacha where you will be dropped at your preferred place in this city.
