Tour Details

The Colombian Pacific coast is a destination of nature of high environmental wealth and unique biodiversity of the Colombian geography. This is one of the most humid regions of the world in which you can observe dramatic landscapes, incredible waterfalls and dark beaches.

Price includes

  • Flights from & to Bahía Solano departing from Medellín.
  • All the marine transportation in boats with all the security requirements.
  • All the transfers in private vehícles from the airport and to the natural attractions in the area.
  • 3 nights of accommodation in Hotel with & double, triple and multiple rooms (depending availability)*.
  • Whale-watching attempt on open waters in small boats.
  • Guided hike to the waterfall ”El pozo de los deseos".
  • Visit to "Utria National" Park and tour through the mangroves trail.
  • Tour through "La Mecana" community and natural attractives there.

Recommendations

  • Follow and abide the instructions of the guides and trip coordinators during each one of the trails to be done.
  • Be prepared with appropriated clothes for the 4 days of the trip viaje with a warm and very humid weather of the colombian pacific coast.
  • It is advisable to count with the “yellow-fever vaccination. Ideally you should have it at least 10 days before your visit to yhe river (This vaccination has to be renewed every 10 years) and take cautions against mosquito bites.

What to take?

  • Waterproof clothing & preferably fast-dry for the activities in this area which is one of the wettest around the world.
  • Repellent for mosquitos.
  • Appropriate Footwear: At least a pair of boots (preferably waterproof), at least 1 pair of sneakers for change and water shoes for the rain or momments where the feet might get wet completely.
  • Swimming suit, towel & water shoes (Everyday there will be a chance of bathing).
  • Take cautions for electronic devices, they might be susceptible of damages due to humidity and rain in the area).
  • Sunscreen.
  • Take a rigid water bottle, preferably not disposable for the water (Canteen).
  • Cap, hat and/or protection from the sun and for the head.
  • Take personal documents and medical insurance.

Itinerary

Day 1

(06:30 – 10:30) – Meeting time at “Enrique Olaya Herrera” airport of Medellín. (the meeting time can change depending on the day chosen), after doing the flight arranges you will take a 1-hour flight to Bahía Solano town, where our local team will receive you and take you in private vehicles to “El Valle”, where you will do the check-in at the hotel and accomodate depending on the option previously chosen, then you will lunch. After that you will have a guided hike to the waterfall “El pozo de los deseos” enjoying the sunset at the beach and ending the day returning to the hotel in order to have dinner and rest.

Day 2

(07:00) – Breakfast at the hotel and then departure to do the whale-watching in small private boats (in order to have more comfortability and security during the navigation). Then you will head to the community of “La Mecana” where you will have lunch, before visiting the community and enjoying baths in the rivers with fresh water at the area. Afterwards you will have time to enjoy the beach and the famous pacific coast sunsets, ending the day by heading back to the hotel in order to have dinner and rest.

Day 3

(07:00) – Breakfast at the hotel and then departure from the dock of “El Valle town” where you will take speed boats in order to visit the Utria National Park where you can see one of the best and most conserved landscapes of the area, once there you will have a talk by the National Park authorities in order to show you the importance of this place for the whales and several marine, flying and land species. Once the group is ready you will have a guided tour by the national park rangers through the mangrooves trail. On the way back you will have time to visit “Playa blanca” located inside the national park, afterwards the boat will take you back to “El Valle” where you will have lunch and then some free-time to enjoy the beach of “El Almejal” and the sunset in that area. Then you will end the day having dinner and rest in the hotel.

Day 4

(07:00) – Breakfast at the hotel and then free time till the hour of the airport citation. Then a private vehicle will take you in order to take your flight back to Medellín to “Enrrique Olaya Airport”, (the departure time will depend on the day and can be from 9 AM till 2 PM). The flight takes 1 hour to get to Medellín where our journey through the pacific coast will end.
